This website idea came from reading some wonderful emails that I started receiving from Dennis Fuller of Bowie, Maryland otherwise known as "The Green River Rat." Dennis was receiving these Email "Stats" or historical letters of recollections from Jerry Durham of Rockport and was interlaced not only with humor but recollections and memories of days gone by.
These recollections are glimpses into the lives of people who may have been raised in any small town in the USA. The scenes are so vivid in my mind of growing up just waiting till the day I could get out of that small town and now, in the autumn of my life, I want to go back to those simple times.
Having been born near Rockport and raised there the first 18 years of my life, I decided that a web site befitting these recollections and other information about our hometown would be most fitting. It is my hope that these remembrances and recollections stir up memories in your minds and hearts too.
So, look around and read, recollect and reminesce about those days when life was a day on the river, playing checkers or walking the Railroad track. Or even the stories we, as youngsters, were told about the hazards of playing on or around those tracks and the Railroad Bridge. Oh, what simple, fun times those were!
My special thanks to Jerry R. Durham of Rockport, Kentucky who has been so kind to lend his "Stats" to enable this web site to even exist. His wonderful memory and collections of pictures and stories makes all this possible. Much time and effort has been put into these recollections and without that effort and time, none of this would have been possible.
Thank you Jerry.
We hope that all your wishes and dreams come true and that life is good to you. God Bless You and Yours.
Thank you for visiting with us, and, please, do come back.
